Thomas Gerbasi, UFC – Since the first season of The Ultimate Fighter aired in 2005, mixed martial artists who appeared on the reality series have had to deal with a double-edged sword when it has come to their post-show careers.On one hand, the notoriety, increased awareness among sponsors and fans, and better opportunities was something to be thankful for. But on the other hand came the skepticism – not only from fans, but from their fighting peers, that those who participated on the show were nothing but media creations – ‘Team Hollywood’ as one fighter put it. And if you happened to be one of those fighters who got airtime for more than what you did in the gym, the gloves really came off.
