Clay Guida is back in the win column.
Sure, Shannon Gugerty was not a top ten opponent, but a win is a win, and this one was textbook for Guida.
Well, sort of.
Guida let the crowd know in his post fight interview that the method of victory—transition from full mount to side choke—was not something he has never worked on in practice. Official time of win: 3:40 of the second round.
The win reconfirms Guida’s position as the perennial and most popular gatekeeper on UFC roster.
So what’s next for the caveman?
Will he get back to taking on top ten lightweight foes, or will he be used as a puzzle piece by the UFC to book a fight with another newcomer or up-and-comer.
For now, Guida fans can revel in this much-needed win.
