UFC117 – Dead Man Talking: Why You Should Pray For Chael Sonnen

Chael Sonnen is a man with a death wish.

He’s like that one guy at camp who decides to poke a sleeping grizzly bear with a stick.

You could say that he’s a bit of fight-hyping genius; but he’s actually trying to make you believe that he’s got a snowball’s chance in hell of beating Anderson Silva on Aug. 7.

With all of the smack talk that Sonnen is dishing out, he’s going to be in for a rude awakening once that cage door closes.

You see, Mr. Silva doesn’t take kindly to fighters who disrespect him; just ask Demian Maia.

At UFC 112, Silva faced off against Maia in his sixth title defense, and basically within the first and second rounds we saw how easily the champ could have ended the fight, but he decided to punish Maia for his pre-fight comments about how his superior ground skills would win him the title.

The remaining three rounds were actually unnecessary, and only went on in order to humiliate Maia at our expense.

Mr. Sonnen is in store for a much greater level of punishment. Ever since his surprising victory over presumed No. 1 contender Nate Marquardt at UFC 109, Sonnen has been building himself up among MMA fans as the guy to bring ‘The Spider’ back down to earth.

What he doesn’t realize is that Silva will be even more motivated to not only beat Sonnen, but he will decimate him within the first round.

After his lackluster performance in Abu Dhabi and the threats by Dana White, we will see glimpses of the old Anderson Silva: Precise, Fast, and Deadly.

Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame, Chael, because your time is just about up.
